The Covestro DeSolite® DF-0016 is a UV-curable optical fiber recoating material designed for fiber splicing, recoating, and specialty fiber processing applications. Developed with a low refractive index and exceptional optical clarity, DF-0016 helps restore protective coatings on optical fibers while maintaining the performance characteristics required for demanding telecommunications and photonics applications.

Its low-haze formulation allows for excellent transparency, making it particularly suitable for precision fiber repair and recoating operations. The coating's low-modulus properties provide flexibility around the fiber while helping reduce stress concentrations that can affect optical performance.

DF-0016 is commonly used as a primary recoat material following fiber preparation or fusion splicing procedures. For applications requiring increased mechanical protection or environmental resistance, the coating can be overcoated with a secondary optical fiber coating such as DeSolite® DS-2015.

Supplied in a 1 kg bottle, DF-0016 is well suited for production environments, fiber optic manufacturing facilities, research laboratories, and telecommunications service operations that require larger-volume recoating materials.

Recommended Overcoat
