Overview
The Zeus series factory-terminated drop cable assemblies are engineered to simplify FTTx network deployments. Designed for rapid installation in the field, these assemblies feature a single Corning® SMF-28® Ultra fiber, offering low attenuation and excellent macrobend performance. The non-toneable, flat drop design is robust for external environments, ensuring reliable connectivity from the distribution point to the customer premise.
Each assembly comes pre-terminated with a factory-tested Corning® OptiTap® connector. This connector system is a standardized, hardened interface that enables seamless integration with existing NID (Network Interface Device) hardware and terminal housings. By minimizing the number of required onsite splices, these assemblies significantly reduce installation time and labor costs for network operators.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is the primary advantage of the OptiTap® connector?
The OptiTap® connector is a hardened, weather-resistant connector designed to speed up FTTx installations by allowing for a fast, reliable, and tool-less plug-in connection to terminals and NIDs.
Can this cable be used for underground burial?
This cable is designed for standard flat drop applications; please refer to the product specification sheet to verify suitability for specific burial or aerial tension requirements.
Is this cable compatible with all NIDs?
The cable is designed for use with standard FTTx network interface devices (NIDs) that accept the Corning® OptiTap® interface standard.
Does this assembly require field splicing?
The assembly comes pre-terminated on one end, typically requiring field fusion splicing on the other end to integrate into the distribution network.
What is the fiber type used?
This assembly utilizes Corning® SMF-28® Ultra singlemode fiber, which is known for its high performance and industry-leading low attenuation.
